As of October 1, 2024, the population of Zhambyl Region was 1,223 thousand people, of which 534.5 thousand people (43.7%) were urban residents and 688.5 thousand people (56.3%) were rural residents.
The average nominal monthly wage earned by employees (excluding small businesses engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the third quarter of 2024 amounted to $548, with a growth of 8.5% compared to the third quarter of 2023.

Taraz state pedagogical Institute is a University with a developed infrastructure, which has all the conditions for the successful organization of the educational process, life and leisure of students. In eight academic buildings equipped with modern laboratories, language laboratories, computer and Internet classes, classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, electronic reading rooms, about 7 thousand students study in 29 bachelor's specialties.
M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University is - one of the largest state universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The University has 14 educational and laboratory buildings with a total area of 73924.4 sq. m. and 155 laboratories equipped with modern equipment and measuring tools. For educational and scientific purposes, a unique research laboratory (NIL) "Nanoengineered research methods" is used, which occupies about 1000 square meters and is one of 15 laboratories of engineering profile, opened in 2007 in the leading universities of Kazakhstan on the initiative of the President of the country N. A. Nazarbayev.
